Our Purpose

As a group of mothers of children serving in our military, our main mission is to support and advocate for the Armed Forces of the United States and its Veterans.  Through monthly meetings, we provide a support network for each other, sharing our experiences, our concerns, and our pride in our military children.

Our support for the troops takes many forms:

Care Packages – We feel strongly that a care package from home is one of the most tangible and immediate ways to show our gratitude and appreciation to military men and women on an overseas assignment.  Our packages are full of specifically requested food and toiletry items such as drink mix powder, healthy snacks, toothpaste, deodorant and sunscreen.  We also include cooling scarves in the summer and warm knit items in the winter, all made by our members.  If you’d like to participate in making these items, you can download the following patterns:

Cooling Scarf
Knit Helmet Liner
Cable Knit Hat
Knit or Crochet Scarf
Knit Neck Gator
Simple Knit Ribbed Hat

Wounded Warriors – Working through local VA hospitals, we are reaching out to returning troops and veterans who are sick or wounded.  Our activities include assebling and distributing toiletry amenity kits containing items such as toothpaste, shampoo, and lotion to make the veteran’s hospital stay a little more pleasant.

Community Awareness – Through education, service activities and events, we promote causes beneficial to our military personnel and their families.

Blue Star & Gold Star Service Flags  – Since 1917, the Blue Star Service flag has been displayed to honor the service member as well as the family that proudly displays it.  Each blue star represents a family member serving in the Armed Forces.  A gold star indicates that the service member has been killed in action.  We provide these service flags to all eligible families.
